FINAL REPORT

GLOBAL INICIATIVE NAME:
"Europe is moving forward".

INDIVIDUAL INICIATIVES NAMES:
- Europe is being painted
- Euro flashmob
- Europe is trendy
- European elections.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INICIATIVES:
It is a set of initiatives symbolizing how Europe is being created: From a flashmob with a huge amount of students “moving Europe forward” to a recreation of Europe with ideas and hopes painted on a wide surface. The democratic construction tool will be shown holding   elections with political parties run by school students and constructive debates to build a solid Europe. To top it all off, European-flag bracelets will be made by students to wear on the day when all these events will be hold.

GOAL:
Expresing how we feel Europe is being built: using the metaphor by painting Europe with our hands on a big mural; by expresing with the flashmob that  "Europe is moving forward" working in a synchronic and co-ordinated way; and, by raising a democratic society with our simulated European elections.

ACTIVE PARTICIPANTS:
All of the  E.S.O.  and bachiller students of our high school (I.E.S. Ciudad de Haro).

OBSERVERS:
The rest of students, teachers  and families from I.E.S. Ciudad de Haro as well as all citizens informed by mass media.

PROMOTION AND DIFFUSION:

We promoted  these funny iniciatives with plenty of posters inside and outside the school; in addition to this, by giving flyers and going to the classrooms to announce our activities.
Local radio invited us to inform about these iniciatives and several newspapers report about them and the big event hold in the school.

MATERIALS:
At first, we used recycled stuff such as recycled paper and empty bricks to make our material as well as simple things: For "European is being painted"  we used a long and big paper;  for "Europe is trendy"  we use simple colour elastic bands which children learnt to weave; for the flashmob we used a mixer and four speakers which we borrowed from  the high school.

DATE:
We carried out these iniciatives and activities last Friday, April 4th 2014 in I.E.S. Ciudad de Haro, from 8.15 a.m. to 14.00 p.m.

LEVEL OF GOAL ACHIEVEMENT:
We considered objectives have been achieved. All the iniciatives were carried out and we even add new workshops to the event that we had not planned at first place. School community has shown their approval and transmitted their congratulations to the team.

GLOBAL EVALUATION:

Every team member had an unforgetful Europe´s Day!!!!

Although there were very difficult problems to solve because we had to co-ordinate about a hundred  of kids for the flashmob, we are very satisfied and happy and we would repeat this experience or a similar one again. We are thankful to the boys and girls of the high school for taking part in the activities.

We learnt how to organize and work with that huge amount of people; how to plan and carry out our plans, having to solve unexpected situations and to make difficult decisions; how to work hand in hand with students, teachers and school staff; and specially, how hard and long term work is very rewarding in the end, the same as the long term work Europe is doing nowadays. In the end we know it will be very satisfactory.

INTERVIEWING PEOPLE

On Europe´s Day, one team member was interviewing students, teachers and parents about their vote intention in our simulated European elections. Our reporter also asked about the European economy and some other topics related to Europe. Some people knew nothing about economy, since most of them are still very young. However with this iniciative, they had had the opportunity to reflect on some bussiness which we are sure they will develop within the future. We are proud of having helped to stimulate and foment the reflection and knowledge of the European Parliament in a funny way.

For the time being we only have a couple of photos to show you  because we are working on the video we have recorded.
We hope you are patient and enjoy this:

OUR EUROPEAN ELECTIONS

Along the Europe´s Day we put a ballot box where the students of the high school could vote 5 teams candidates to form the First Simulated Government chosen by Eurpean Elections in this high school.

In addition, each team have to informed the rest of students and explained them their political notions.

Here we had got some photos about it!!

As well some people from our group interviewed some of the participants in the elections to recover some more information about what they thought each political team could improve in the nowadays society.

THIRD WORKSHOP

And the last activity that we had planned was "Europe is Painting".It was an area where all the students could paint , draw or just write anything that they think it´s important for Europe. It was a chance for reflexion about Europe concept!!!

SECOND WORKSHOP

Continuing with the activities, our workshop was  "Decorate Europe". A zone designed for the decoration of shirts, shoes, trainers and every item you could thought with the least chance to be transformed.

FIRST WORKSHOP

Let´s begin with the bracelets. The activity was called "Europe Is Trendy".
Here students could try to make bracelets with the colours of some flags from European Countries.

OUR WORKSHOPS

Now we will show you some photos taken this morning while we were doing our activities, showing the students how to develop them, teaching them how to vote or just entertaining them.
We will dedicate one post for each activity and then we will publish a short video summarizing all the activities.

OUR EUROPE´S DAY

Today we have celebrated Europe´s Day in our high school together with the other groups taking part in Euro-scola as well.

We have prepared three types of activities, each one for everybody and age interested in it:  from painting with their own hands on the "Europe is Painting" workshop to decorating their shoes or trainers in our "EuroDecor" zone.

Of course we have tried to involved all the students in an European Elections Simulation. In order to do so, we have put a real ballot box allowing them to vote for one of the candidates political parties running for the First Simulated Eurpean Goverment from the high school IES Ciudad De Haro.
